ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL COUNCIL
International Labour Organization
Topic 1: Equitable and Accessible Recruitment
Topic 2: Workplace Security and Wages
Founded in 1919 with the Treaty of Versailles, the International Labour Organization now serves as a Specialized Agency of the United Nations. Though the economic landscape now looks vastly different from the previous century, many challenges have remained the same. The first topic, Equitable and Accessible Recruitment, touches on the difficulties of individuals entering the workforce. Young and highly qualified graduates deal with an iron wall of unrealistic requirements for basic entry-level positions as they finish their education. Delegates who navigate the second topic, Workplace Security and Wages, will have to navigate the complexity of equitable wages and safer working conditions in a globalized economy where both developed and developing countries are connected like never before.
