CONMUN is currently hiring a Secretariat in preparation for the fourth iteration of its conference. Under the leadership of this year’s Secretary-General, Amalia Mastroberardino, the CONMUN Secretariat is the body responsible for the conference's organization. A detailed description of the available positions and their mandates can be found below.

Who Can Apply

The CONMUN Secretariat is composed of students between the ages of seventeen and twenty-five enrolled in a post-secondary institution within the Montréal area. Experience within the Model UN circuit is an asset, but not a requirement. This does not apply to the positions of Director-General, USG GAs & SAs, and USG Crises, all of which require familiarity with the circuit in order to complete their roles.

PLEASE NOTE:

To ensure impartiality, the Director of Equity position can only be filled by a student enrolled at Concordia University. 

The role of the Under Secretary-General of Finance has been absorbed into the mandate of the CGAA's Director of Finance and is therefore not available as a position on the CONMUN Secretariat. 

Available Positions

Director-General

Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to: 

  • Leading and overseeing the committees team in:

    • the selection of creative committee topics 

    • the recruitment and selection of chairs, vice-chairs, crisis directors, assistant crisis directors and crisis staff

    • the progression of committee background guides 

    • the administration of committee feedback 

    • the organization of a minimum of three staff trainings 

    • the organization of a staff appreciation event 

  • Replacing the Secretary-General in the event of their resignation

Under Secretary-General of GAs and SAs

Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to: 

  • Brainstorming creative committee topics for General Assemblies and Specialized Agencies

  • Recruitment of chairs and vice-chairs 

  • Overseeing the progression of committee background guides 

  • Administration of committee feedback 

Under Secretary-General of Crises

Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to: 

 

  • Brainstorming creative committee topics for Crisis committees

  • Recruitment of chairs and vice-chairs, crisis directors and assistant crisis directors

  • Overseeing the progression of committee organization and background guides

  • Administration of committee feedback 

Chargé(e) d’Affaires

Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to: 

 

  • Leading and overseeing the logistics team in:  

    • the creation of name tags, placards and awards

    • the upkeep of the conference website

  • Administration of conference registration and delegate assignments 

  • Designing and implementing a successful email campaign

  • Consistent communication with delegates and faculty advisors 

Under Secretary-General of Marketing

Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to: 

 

  • Creation and management of a consistent brand identity though:

    • social media (Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn)

    • the conference website

  • Design and creation of placards, name tags and awards

  • Recruitment and management of photographers

  • Creation and distribution of conference merchandise 

  • Procurement of corporate sponsors

Under Secretary-General of Internal Affairs

Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to: 

 

  • Designing the schedule for the conference

  • Scheduling of Secretariat meetings, setting the agenda and taking notes 

  • Selection of a conference venue and coordination of accompanying logistical concerns such as:

    • Room selection and layout 

    • Audio-visual equipment and technology

    • Catering 

  • Organizing and hosting the conference’s opening and closing ceremonies 

  • Selecting and coordinating with the conference’s official charity 

  • Organization of conference social events*


* Given the demanding nature of this task, an assistant may be hired to support the USG of Internal Affairs in this endeavour, at their discretion.

Director of Equity

Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to: 

  • Ensuring that all aspects of the conference and its organization are conducted in an equitable manner

  • Receiving and processing equity complaints made by the Secretariat, staff members or delegates prior to and during the conference

  • Ensuring that all staff members are adequately trained in equity concerns
