The Global Refugee Crisis
In the midst of increasingly polarizing political debates, immigration has taken center stage as the line dividing national interests from humanitarian responsibilities continues to blur. The political crisis surrounding climate refugees continues to grow as millions of people are displaced due to the climate emergency without any legal protection or recognition under international law. Meanwhile, certain host nations struggle when implementing solutions to help integrate migrants into their own communities, while the return of said peoples to their homeland remains impossible.
Delegates in the UNHCR will face the complex challenge of proposing innovative yet feasible frameworks to aid vulnerable migrant communities while balancing the needs of their respective populations.
