The Room Where It Happens: The National Security Council

The National Security Council is the primary forum on matters of national security and foreign policy used by the President of the United States of America. The Council is tasked with advising and assisting the president on security matters, and coordinating foreign policy action. Composed of influential Cabinet members and top government officials, the National Security Council has navigated crucial moments in modern American history under the supervision and mandate of the past several US presidents, beginning in 1947 with President Harry S Truman and continuing on today under President Biden. Beginning under the National Security Council of President John F. Kennedy, the National Security Council will progress through history, traversing through key moments in American national and international policy under the supervision of various American presidents. Delegates in this committee will navigate a diverse slate of issues, ranging from the mid-1900s to modern day. The National Security Council plays an integral role in the peace and stability of the United States of America in times of tensions and turmoil, and it is the ongoing responsibility of the Council to ensure liberty and justice for all to the best of their abilities.
